To Everyone who has contacted me or donated to the PAFOA over the past few days
Thank you very much for your support, it's very, very highly appreciated.
To people who have PM'd me: I will get to all the messages as soon as I can but please do not be offended if it takes a few days.
To everyone who has donated over the last week: I am still in the process of sorting through all the donations, adding them to our database/donor page, and contacting people about whether they want to have their accounts upgraded to show their support. Please bear with me as it might take me a few days to get through all of them. Every donor will be personally thanked and contacted, it just takes some time.
For the record, generous gun owners (some from outside PA even!) have donated probably close to $1,500 to the PAFOA over the past week, it's really quite amazing.
I am still working on a handful of things like an official PAFOA account of what exactly happened in the last week, unfortunately this has been a little slow because Tuesday was my first day back at work after 4 days off because of family issues. Additionally we've spent the last 3 nights trying to keep the servers up from all the traffic and publicity this incident caused.
So once again, thank you to everyone for all their support of Rich, PAFOA, and everyone else involved.

1911 parts and accessories help
Hi,
I have a few questions about my 1911. It’s a Springfield TRP 5” barrel. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good website/store to purchase mag’s, grips, holsters etc for it. I’ve been on cheaperthandirt.com it’s good. But I’m looking for one that has a lot of 1911 stuff.
My last question is, when I’m buying parts like grips & mag holders are there any other gun models that will fit my gun. Like the Kimber, Colt, etc. I’m getting a little confused shopping around. Some sites say they will fit it and other it doesn’t say.
Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Russian and EG Maks
I went through my collection and decided to sell the duplicates. I have been able to find several NIB or LNIB so these are about as fine a pair of IJ70 pistols as you will see. Both are from the same source and obviously were purchased, put in a drawer and forgotten. However, I only have the box, papers,tool, and manual for the 18AH, since the seller had no idea that they were worth keeping and simply pitched them before they were sold.
They are both KBI imports; the pic below with the hi-cap shows a manufacture date of 8/94. Both are perfect with no barrel marks or wear whatsoever, however the hi-cap has two tiny marks on the tip of the slide on the side that laid in the box. Since the hi-cap was an early KBI import, the 10 round mag that comes with it is blue rather than the phosphate-coated mag you may typically see. I spoke with the KBI gunsmith and he assured me it is an original mag from the importer.
I do not believe that either was ever fired and those of you who know me realize that you can take that to the bank. I had a very difficult time deciding which of the remaining pistols I would keep and finally just picked the ones with the serial numbers that were closest to the letter of the alphabet that my wife gave me (very scientific and it will keep me from second guessing).

A new kind of terrorism?

PHILADELPHIA — Customs agents seized more than two dozen giant beetles — some the size of a child's hand — from an overseas package after postal workers heard the insects making scratching noises.
The large bugs arrived last week from Taiwan at a post office in Mohnton, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia, in a box whose contents were labeled as toys, gifts and jellies, officials said Wednesday.
But the postmaster suspected the package contained live organisms and notified authorities, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency. The package was sent to Philadelphia, where it was X-rayed and then opened.
"The specimens were some of the largest of their kind, and some of the largest I've ever seen, averaging five to six inches in diameter," John Plummer, an agency agriculture specialist, said in a statement Wednesday. "They are highly destructive insect pests that can cause extensive damage to fruit and vegetable crops, trees, shrubs and turf grasses."
In all, authorities found 26 Hercules, rhinoceros and Goliath beetles. It is illegal to ship live beetles into the United States without a permit from the Department of Agriculture.
Seven of the beetles were in containers labeled by gender, which means they could have been intended for breeding, customs agency spokesman Steve Sapp said Wednesday.
The sender and recipient have been identified, Sapp said. An investigation is under way, but no decision has been made whether to file charges, he said.

LEO training & qualification
I've been thinking after talking to some LEO both PSP and local. I think it's too easy to become a cop in PA. It seems a fair # of cops just don't know what they're doing.
Examples:
There is a 4" blade restriction if a knife is carried.
LCTF is not valid in Philly.
A machete is a prohibited offensive weapon.
I asked 3 different cops about the legality of butterfly knives & got 3 different answers.
AND of course....A carried gun must be concealed.
A person must show ID no matter what if asked by a cop.
If OC it cannot be loaded.
Chucks are a POW. I believe there is case law to the contrary,but don't quote me.
AND our little Friday May 9 incident.
Years ago in Moosic PA I had a cop get out of his personal vehicle in street clothes to confront me about a traffic infraction. There was 2 feet of snow on the ground & I was driving a tractor with no trailer. Such a vehicle is a nightmare in snow. :rolleyes: I don't know if this goof is still a cop but if he was any dummer they would have to water him twice a week.
Now...I'm not saying all cops are bad or incompetent but I think police training needs a serious review in PA. I think the standard should be raised.
Anyone wearing a badge needs to have a certain knowledge of the law.
My employer requires recurring training for...

Remington Nylon 66 22lr rifle in very good condition! Comes with vintage Weaver B4 scope mounted with tip-off system on factory rail. Can be equipped with other sized scopes using different tip-off mounts. I did a COMPLETE disassembly when acquired, cleaned every single part and applied break-free. Action is very smooth now and since then put about 200 or so rounds through it with no failures. Was going keep it as a collector piece but must get rid of it due to a storage issue. Asking $250 FTF in Philadelphia, will consider offers and travel.

Some Interesting Info....
Part 1
In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.
Quote of the Day........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.' -- Barack Obama
Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Law Availability
this mght not be the best place for this, but here goes....
This is a question for the LEO's on the board, but more as an inquiry in general....
With all of the technology of today's society....Police Cruisers have computers in them, EVERYONE'S office has a computer with internet access.....Is there not access to an applicable law library to a Police Officer? I realize the average officer does not have time to research every crime at every bust....but when they encounter something new, and are presented with facts that are new.....shouldn't there be a way to get that Officer this important information? Rather than call someone else who has no clue, either....
Seems to me like it would be a better way to do things. Rather than arrest someone for "Contemp of Cop" and hope it sticks, or drop it later....
OK...Rant over.....just something I was wondering this morning :)

Left handed Level 2
Ok,something I learned is although I love my K40 it is almost impossible to find a level 2 left handed holster.I use a mitch rosin now and also have a Desantis scorpian IWB BUT know matter how much I've tried with the DeSantis if you had to draw you'd be screwed.I've checked the Serpa's but they don't offer one for a Kahr.Does this mean I'm basicly limited by my choice of firearms?

Emergency Plates??
I was on my way to work this morning and I got behind a vehicle that I thought had out of state plates. Being the nosey bastard that I am I pulled up a little closer and low and behold....... its a PA plate! it was a standard plate but the letters and numbers were red instead of blue. On the bottom it said "EMERGENCY VEHICLE". The white SUV had no markings on it or lights. I don't recall ever seeing a plte like that. Anyone know anything about them?

I'm the proud owner of a brand new AR-15! (NSFW)
AR15s are so sexy, I'd hate to be caught looking at one at work. click on the picture to see her lovely figure in high resolution.

I know virtually nothing about AR15s or even this particular one except that it is a Stag Arms M4gery type 16" with a chromed barrel and a removable handle. I plan on tricking it out with some nice accessories in the future, including a sling, a bipod, and some nice optics, depending on what I learn is possible with my particular instance of this rifle. I also want to get a flat top Rock River Arms 24" stainless steel varmint upper in the future, as I hear they are very accurate out several hundred yards (prairie dog defense rifle?)! The exciting thing for me is that PA hunting law allows for amputees such as myself to hunt with semi-autos, so I plan on taking full advantage of that privilege to help control the groundhog population, even if i don't get out to South Dakota for prairie dogs.
I'm about to clean and lube it up for the first time. This is a little bit intimidating but I plan on using the internet as a resource:
